Probably the two biggest issues that clients come unstuck with are budgets and timing.
Avoiding budget blowouts
Ensuring your office fit out runs to budget is covered in a previous blog so check out the tips there.
Ensuring the office fit out is on time
Timing is crucial for items like custom joinery, signage, and communications services as they all have long lead times from the point of order to the day they arrive on site for installation. Most of these items also hinge on other trades being involved for part of their completion and the last week of the fit out is usually fairly chaotic with all trades on site wanting to finish their task and not wanting to have to wait on others, so careful planning is critical before you get to this point.
On a recent office fit out in Chatswood we had worked out a project time line of a 4 week on site construction schedule. The client was informed of the proposed move date date and instructed to get phone services migrated ASAP. Thier request was lodged with the provider straight away, however they did not follow up for about two weeks at which time they were told that the new phone lines would be installed a week after they had planned to move in ! Yep the S… hit the fan in a big way and the move had to be delayed until communications were up, running & tested.
Dont be caught out, check , double check & triple check during the build process that everything you are responsible for is on track.
Also dont forget to advise all your clients & suppliers that you are moving and get your new stationery, business cards, etc ready for the big day
